The " Las
Super Tejanas
" Showcase was a January 29th, 2000 event which took place
at the "Paramount Theatre" in Austin, Texas.

The performance was a musical
extravaganza with noted Mexican American female performers, all
of whom have made their mark on the Texas musical landscape.
Performing in a wide range of genres, from Country to conjunto,
these amazing women shared the stage at Austin's premiere
Paramount Theatre.
Those who attended heard tear jerking honky-tonk tunes by Rosie
Flores to traditional border songs by Tish Hinojosa, mesmerizing
boleros by Eva Ybarra, Tejano styled ballads by Shelly Lares, and
classic Mexican love songs from Corpus Christi trio Las
Madrugadoras. The original idea was for a performance, but
everyone involved was so excited about the project that a
recording took place which hopefully will be available & also
more possible touring and video possibilities.
The
concert was part of the Texas Folklife Resources'
Texas Folk Master Series 2000...
