This is my favorite time of year. Ready to forget about the summer heat for a while. The coolest thing that happened all year – opening for Pat Benetar and Neil Giraldo at the ACL Live Moody Theater on September 23rd. They gave the best Rock n Roll show, rocked me to the bone! Melted face, shivers, the whole 9 yards. Chris Sensat, who sings and plays drums in the Talismen and I opened with our Rockin’ Duo and got such appreciation from their audience from the top to the bottom ending our set with a Standing Ovation, a completely delightful audience!
Now it’s the time to look back at the months gone past, take hold of the memories, and write about it all. There was deep loss and there were experiences to gain from.
I had a super time playing in California a bunch, starting the year off with shows in Long Beach with Reverend Horton Heat and the Surfrajettes, then with The Farmers Reunion and remembering Country Dick at The Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach.
The Outlaw Cruise ship in February was a super high point in the year, I can’t wait for next year’s Outlaw sail and seeing all the Cruisers again. I will feature a band with Earl Slick on guitar and Emily Gimble on piano and vocals. It is sold out but there is always a waiting list to get on!
Also, Marti Brom and I started singing with a rockabilly band called The RattleShakes. Inspired by the Elvis Sun Records days, we were added on a bill to open the Ted Roddy Elvis Tribute shows twice a year, but the band now has legs and will play here and there, it’s great to be on stage with the power house rockin’ voice of Marti Brom, she’s amazing, as are the other musicians, Jeremy Slemenda Chris Sensat and Chris Crepps.
Speaking of amazing musicians, I’ve been back in the studio with The Talismen, Chris Sensat, Michael Archer and Mike Molnar. Last 4 songs are being mixed and produced by Ed Stasium (Ramones, Living Colour). The earlier songs on our list were produced by the band, it’s all great! I’m anxious to get this out, you will dig this stuff, been in the works since 2020! This month we headed to the Dallas State Fair on the 20th and HoneyFest in Wimberly the day after.
I’ve really enjoyed being on the Tom Russell Roots (off the rails) line up along with Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Butch Hancoock and Augie Meyers; Bill Kirchen and Andrew Hardin on lead guitars. A bit intimidating being the only woman but, hey! I’m little but I’m loud!
The Blue Moon Jazz Trio is still flying along at our residence at the Continental Gallery on Tuesday nights with Jim Stringer and Josh Flowers and other guests. We round out the weekends lately at The Standard on Vaughan in Bertram, a fine dining spot worth the drive! Also, on the horizen, is a Blue Moon Jazz record in the works that we hope to have out soon as well. Overdubs and mixes are still in line to be completed, but Jim keeps writing more cool songs, so we’ll see!
I’ll sign off for now. Hope you enjoy the holidays, spread love and peace, stay healthy and I look forward to seeing you out at one of my live shows – listed, as always, on the Tour schedule here on my website!
Cheers,
Rosie
